Wet and windy bank holiday

The Met Office is continuing to forecast cold, wet and windy weather during the Bank Holiday weekend. After a mainly fine start, heavy rain, strong winds and much colder weather will set in across many parts of the UK, with some areas seeing up to 50 mm of rainfall.

Along with the heavy rain and strong winds, people will notice a sharp drop in temperatures, down to single figures in some places. Following the drop in temperature, the Met Office is forecasting a gradually improving picture over the coming days.
