News release

Weather warnings via RSS

Severe weather warnings from the Met Office are now available from the internet via a RSS feed.

RSS feed icon RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a free news feed from the Met Office which will enable our website users to quickly access severe weather warnings from the National Severe Weather Warning Service (NSWWS). With a suitable RSS news reader or browser you can see when a warning has been issued and be directed to the relevant Met Office web page to see the full detail of the warning. This will save you time as you don't need to keep visiting the Met Office website to see if new or updated warnings have been issued.

As the UK’s National Weather Service the Met Office is responsible for issuing severe weather warnings to enable UK citizens to make informed decisions that help protect their life, welfare and property in the event of severe weather.

The RSS feed is now an additional source of these warnings. The feed can be viewed via a number of internet browsers and news readers.
