Annual Report and Accounts 2006/7 published

The Met Office Annual Report and Accounts 2006/7 has been officially published. It provides an overview of the work of the Met Office during the last year, highlighting the Met Office's capability in forecasting and climate research.

The many significant achievements include:

  • meeting all of the Key Performance Targets for the second year running;
  • achieving our highest forecast accuracy rate;
  • contributing vital knowledge to the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change;
  • inputting into the fourth assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change;
  • a landmark collaboration with a group of leading energy companies for a study into climate change and its potential impacts on the UK energy industry;
  • a new consulting service which takes Met Office science and applies it to different market sectors to work out the likely risks and opportunities of climate change.
