As our understanding of air quality issues continues to grow, the sophistication with which we need to tackle the issues become ever more demanding.
Some examples of the challenging issues we need to face include
- better appreciating the impact of pollution on health;
- understanding the importance of trans-boundary pollution on local air quality;
- gaining an insight into the complex issues of atmospheric chemistry and climate change.
The Met Office continues to work alongside others to help address these areas. Our decades of research and strong IT infrastructure provide us with a firm base on which to provide advice and services on which sound judgements and decisions can be made.
The following links provide an insight into our activities which range from ensuring that weather related information is available for researchers and consultants through to providing policy makers and industry with informative advice on which to form sound policy decisions.
