Portpatrick
Saturday evening an area of strong northwest winds will lie to the northwest of Scotland, approximately across Hebrides, Faeroes and Bailey, because of an anticyclone centred to the southwest of the UK. However Saturday night a weak area of low pressure will start to extend southeastwards from Iceland, temporarily killing most of the strong winds. Late Sunday and overnight as the weak low pressure continues southeastwards, becoming centred between Iceland and Scotland, so northwest winds will strengthen to become strong or locally gale force across the middle of the region. The gales are most likely to occur across Bailey and Hebrides. Through Monday a large and complex area of low pressure will approach from the mid Atlantic, resulting in a squeeze up against the anticyclone centred across northwest France. Therefore strong to gale force southeast winds will arrive across the southwest corner of the region, then extending northeastwards through Tuesday to cover much of Shannon, Fastnet and southern Rockall
Cullercoats
Saturday evening and overnight strong northwest winds will cover much of the North Sea to the north of 54N, because the North Sea will be sandwiched between a large anticyclone centred to the southwest of the UK and lower pressure across Scandinavia. For a time during Sunday the pressure gradient is likely to strengthen, with localised northwest gales possibly developing across the eastern North Sea. However Sunday night the anticyclone will slip slightly southeastwards towards Brittany, allowing pressure to fall across the north of the Cullercoats region, which will result in all strong winds abating. Monday a weak area of low pressure is expected to form between Iceland and Scotland, maintaining a slack pressure flow across the region and therefore no strong winds. Tuesday the anticyclone will become centred across the Continent, extending a ridge of high pressure northwards over the North Sea, so continuing the light wind winds everywhere
Niton
A large and slow moving anticyclone will dominate the weather, bringing light winds for the Niton region through Saturday evening, Saturday night and for most of Sunday. Then Sunday night a large and complex area of low pressure will approach from the mid Atlantic, as the anticyclone drifts southeast towards northwest France. The squeeze between the Atlantic low pressure and the anticyclone will bring strong southeast winds to the far west of the region through Monday morning. Then as the anticyclone reaches the Continent so strong to gale force south or southeast winds will extend to approximately 10W by late Monday evening. Tuesday the anticyclone will continue to drift eastwards, allowing strong south or southeast winds to cover much of the region to the west of 06W. However across the far southwest of Fitzroy strong southwest winds are likely to arrive through Tuesday, with a risk of localised gales here as well
